The enjoyment, inspiration and motivation of the second ‘Walking out of Darkness’ event back in May 2015 seems like a long time ago, doesn’t it? Don’t worry, we have some exciting news.

At CLASP Charity, we are proud to announce ‘Walking out of Darkness’ is returning on Saturday 14th May in London, and will be even bigger and better than previous years, with more participants, charities, entertainment and fun. Invite your friends, family and colleagues to join you in this important event because together – we can make a difference!

‘Walking out of Darkness’ is a great opportunity for people, businesses, organisations and services across the UK to unite as one to show support and understanding for people suffering with mental illness, in crisis or distress, as well as to end the stigma around mental illness and seek to increase suicide prevention.

Registration is only £10, and you will have the opportunity to fund raise for any local or national UK mental health charity that you choose. The event in May 2015 had charities such as Rethink Mental Illness, Mental Health Foundation, Grassroots Suicide Prevention and more.

Each year we receive numerous generous donations from our partners and sponsors including experience days, skincare products, wine and much more. Everyone who registers to participate in the next walk will be automatically entered into our prize draw, which will take place on the day of the event. Also – if you register before midday on Friday 13th May 2016, you will be entered into our Big Event draw.

The walk will start and end in Battersea Park at 10am, with a number of influential speakers including celebrities. Also, following the fun had at the May 2015 event, our fitness instructors are returning to get everybody warmed up and excited at the start line. You’ll love our new walking route, which will guide you past several iconic London landmarks including the London Eye, the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, the Shard and many more.

Following the walk, join us for refreshments, live music and rides for children and adults, to keep the celebrations going throughout the afternoon. Pack a picnic and bring along your family for a day of fun in the park while increasing awareness for mental health.

‘Walking out of Darkness’ has been kindly supported by the Department of Health, NHS, Time to Change, Rethink Mental Illness, Bank of England, Legal & General, and more, however in order for this event to grow even bigger and better – we need the support of your organisation or community to get involved!

If your school, college, university, business, service, organisation or anyone you know is interested in helping to increase Mental Health Awareness, Suicide Prevention and an end to the stigma; tell them to email us at hello@claspcharity.com and we will discuss with them, how they can be part of the event and together, we can make a difference for millions of people across the UK.
